Time Freezing Soul Mates

I was born to stop time. My name is Alex Wilde and I was born with these powers. Even though I was born with these powers, I’ve never really told anyone that I can do it.

As a four year old child I asked my mum for an ice-cream. She said I couldn’t have one. I got so angry and something clicked in my brain and all time stopped. Mum was frozen and so was the ice-cream shop. I went over to the shop and stole a scoop of vanilla strawberry ice-cream. It was some of the best tasting ice-cream that you could ever get. Mum just believes that their ice-cream melted because of the hot day but I know it made it into my stomach.

Having these powers has its ups and down. In school I use it to have sleeps in class without missing any content. It keeps my brain energised and alert. makes it much easier to learn and remember the content. When it comes to exams, I’ve got all the revision time in the world; but there is this girl that drives me crazy, Claudia George. She has the same abilities as me, I think. Whenever I try to look at her, you know I have a crush, she doesn’t freeze and she keeps on moving.

Today I was going to burst out laughing at myself if I didn’t approach Claudia. Today was the last day of school for us and I think Claudia was going to head to college in a different country. Something to do with languages I think. So I needed to muster up some courage.

It was during Fourth class that I approached Claudia. I asked her if she thinks she has powers. She laughed and goes “haven’t you realised that you’re special, Just like me”. Then she smiled. In that moment my world changed.

Claudia knew it this whole time. I wanted to talk to her about it but I think that our powers should be kept secret. “Hey Claudia what do you use your powers for,” I said to her. She paused for a moment whilst just staring at me. “I don’t know. There’s so much you can do but it would be better to live without them. You can get up to mischief easily. Sometimes I use it to stare at people but I couldn’t use it to stare at you. That’s when I started liking you,” she said.

My heart fluttered. This girl, that I hadn’t known for long, was changing my world. There were so many things that I could have said but before I could say even just one thing to her she did something crazy. She leaned in an gave me a quick kiss and boy I wish I could of frozen time for us in that moment. She gave me a piece of paper with her phone number on it. “Call me after you finish school today. We can catch up after we’re done with school Alex,” she told me.

The bell rang and we all started to leave the classroom. School was finished forever. No more need to repeat Grade 12 for me.

Years have passed since I met with Claudia in the classroom. The kiss she gave me blew my mind away. She did it whilst freezing time so nobody even noticed. It’s an interesting power to have and my life has changed a lot since spending more time with her. I have no idea how I got my powers but I’m very grateful that they led me to Claudia. We have a family together and live happily. She must have been set to be my soul mate since day one.
