Thanks Heather for getting back! Congratulations on getting out of the cast. You’ve endured the hardest part. An ace bandage would probably be a good idea because it would prevent you from stretching your hand too much with things like the number 5. It could make typing harder. When I came out of it, it was probably 1–2 weeks where my hand would be sore (and it would hurt to spread my fingers apart). Without an elastic bandage the main strategy was to take as much care of it as possible during the time. After the few weeks your hand will come back to its full strength and it gets easier to do the normal tasks.
