Hi :) I’m Jack Glendenning and I am a big fan of music. The following article is a top 10 list of my favourite songs of all time. The songs were gathered and pondered over for a while to ensure that they were correctly in my top 10 favourite of all time. So here we go. Buckle yourself in and we’ll go from number 10…

10. Mockingbird — Eminem
This song by Marshall Mathers lands as my number 10 favourite song of all time. It goes over the tough times Eminem went through as a younger person and as a father. I like this song for the fact that it is a story and it was a song I learned each words for to sing along when I was younger. I learnt it through just listening to it many times. For this reason it lands at number 10 on my list.

9. Sunflower — Post Malone and Swae Lee
I can confess that this song had to make it on my top 10 list for a very heartfelt reason. As a blind individual who once had sight, this song came from a movie which was the last movie I remember when I had sight. It had amazing visuals, a great story and the character Myles Morales was played very well. I like the job that Post Malone and Swae Lee did on this track. The sounds are a little bit unusual and that works well for the track.

8. Blue Flume Remix — Eiffel 65
The tune of this song is just one that I really have come to like. In a world where everything is blue. One of the reasons this song did not get higher on the list is because it cuts out a verse from the original song where we get to learn that he has a girlfriend and she is so blue. I do love that it says I’m blue in like a slow motion feature in the song and the electronic drop of the track is something I like. So here is Flume’s remix of Blue by Eiffel 65.

7. Paint it Black — The Rolling Stones
Mick Jagger and his crew come in at lucky number 7 on my list. It is a catchy song and it is one that I have learnt to play on the guitar. I believe it was the first track that I uploaded to YouTube and has received the most praise. When I heard this song, I thought it would be very difficult to play. With practice, I managed to get this song under my belt and play it. For it being one of my favourite songs to play on the guitar, it lands at number 7 on my list.

6. Malibu — Miley Cyrus
The beautiful acoustic rift on the guitar and the voice of Miley Cyrus work together well on this track and is the reason that it makes it on this list. Another more greater reason for it landing on this list is that I listened to it on repeat for the entire morning that I won Nationals in 2017 in Melbourne for gymnastics. It was a song that just helped me relax and I played it for most of my warm up just listening with my headphones in on an old iPod Shuffle that I had.

5. The Hive Part 1 — The Gametes
In support of a friend, I have really come to like his songs that he’s been apart of and enjoyed this one the most. It is a song that I feel I can relate to because it talks about not ever going to sleep and joining a sleepless paradise. Sometimes this is where I feel I am in the nights I don’t get great sleeps. Hence, it was suitable for the song to land here.

4. Capsize — The Plane Sailors
In support of another friend from Brisbane, This next song shares a story and has ended on the list. This is the story of going out on a boat and having a feeling that it might capsize as you sleep overnight. It is a song where I like the intro and the finger picking patterns on the guitar. For its catchy melody, vocals (even the supporting vocals at the end of the song) and cool guitar sounds, this song lands at number 4 on my list.

3. Veins — Palace
During some hard times in my life some people introduced me to this song. One thing that I loved about this song was that it says “you’re alive” at the start of the song. I love the guys voice and love the guitar solo towards the end of the song. It reminds me of the beach and mellow times with friends.

2. Mr. Polite — The Jungle Giants
I love the Jungle Giants… like a lot. This is my favourite song and I would love to learn it on the guitar. The vocals in this band are always on point and their tunes are always a little different but they all sound like Jungle Giants songs. I do like etiquette and manners so it seemed right to put a song about it on this list.

1. The Less I Know the Better — Tame Impala
You’ve made it here for the number one song on my favourite songs of all time. The song that reached this position was The Less I Know the Better by Western Australia band Tame Impala. I again love the vocals of this band from Kevin Parker and the tunes that go with all of their songs. For multiple days I listened to this song on repeat when it came out and enjoyed it very much. Another reason I like it so much is that its music video is very colourful. Although it is sexual in nature at the start of the video, it is a video that is lovely to watch because of its colours, visuals and dancing. Here is the video below.
